Project 1

A company commissioned by the government to design an electronic encryption device asked us to design a sheet metal enclosure with the brief that it should be stylish, easy to assemble and complying with EMC regulations.

We came up with an aluminium housing painted blue with polished stainless steel endcaps. The PCB inside mounts on aluminium sleeves and the assembly held together with 2 screws.

The design was modelled in 3D including the internal electronics and the concept accepted by the customer in virtual form. Prototypes were manufactured directly from the model for EMC testing and after minor modifications, the enclosure went into production.

The product has been a great success, it has been supplied to the government in 1000's.

Project  2

A company importing expensive Italian coffee machines needed a stylish cabinet to mount machines and store ingredients.

The brief called for single and double width cabinets with a locking front door, optional top drawer, interchangeable variable width worktops, an optional caster arrangements which wouldn't increase the height of the cabinet and a means of mounting graphics on a backboard.

The coffee machine, ingredients and water bottle weigh 100kg, wheeling it around on soft surfaces like carpet without deflection required a stiff construction and we came up with a stiff double skin design painted black with stainless steel tops and blind drawer and door handles.

The cabinet is a great success and being rolled out in supermarket and hotel chains across the country.
